Based on the above figures, TikTok has truly skyrocketed among teens and young adults who belong to Generation Z. This so-called Gen Z users, born between 1997 and 2007, are more attached to their mobile phones than any other generations, with 98% of them owning a smartphone.

Although Gen Z users spend 10 hours on devices each day, they have a shorter attention span of only 8 seconds compared to the 12-second attention span of Millennials.

Furthermore, ‘Gen Zers’ have a strong spending power both online and offline. A survey in the Asia Pacific (APAC) showed that Asian teenagers and young adults are more willing to shop online. Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram Integration Coming Soon?


Have you caught wind of the digital marketing news about social media giant Facebook’s messaging integration? According to reports, Facebook is working to combine their three messaging platforms–Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Through this, the 3.8 billion monthly active users of the three apps will be able to chat with each other even if they’re all on different platforms. It’s also important to note that all three applications will remain stand-alone. The app themselves will remain independent, except for the messaging service. The project, though still under development, will reportedly improve security and create an iMessage-like experience.


While this update isn’t expected to appear until late 2019 or early 2020, this integration poses opportunities for a brand to edge up their digital marketing strategy as they will be able to reach a broader audience more easily using just one platform. This also offers a massive online advertising opportunity for brands and give them an alternative method for reaching many people at once.
